The XMC-1 is a modular surround sound processor – designed from the ground up to serve as the nerve center of a home theater or surround sound music system that delivers both true audiophile sound quality and state-of-the-art video performance.

Designing a surround sound processor that includes all of the features you need in a modern home theater system, while still giving you superb sound quality, is a formidable undertaking. Most AVRs and pre/pros offer plenty of features, but compromise on sound quality, and audiophile gear is usually limited to playing stereo music. When we started working on the XMC-1, we decided we wouldn’t be willing to settle for the compromises we saw in other processors. We set out from the start to create a unique processor that simply does everything well. Support For The Latest Surround Sound Audio Modes

  • In its default operating mode, the XMC-1 will automatically detect how the audio on each source you play is encoded and select the optimum mode to use to decode it. Decoded audio will then be optimized for your unique system configuration. This includes automatically down-mixing the source if you have fewer speakers and automatically synthesizing additional channels if you have more speakers than the original audio. All automatic processing modes can be manually overridden temporarily, and default modes can be reconfigured to suit your listening preferences.

Main System Processor:

  • The main control functions on the XMC-1 are handled by a Texas Instruments AM-1808 Sitara Arm9 32 bit 375MHz processor.

Video Processing:

  • The XMC-1 is a pure video switch; video inputs are switched directly to the appropriate output without any unnecessary processing. Video switching on the XMC-1 is handled by three Panasonic MN864788 High Speed LSI 4k UHD Video Switches.

Audio Processing:

  • All audio decoding and audio post processing is handled by twin Texas Instruments DA710 32-bit floating-point, dual-core, 300 MHz DSP engines capable of 1800 MIPS each.
